Palm has confidently announced its smartphone running on the next generation mobile platform webOS, the Pre. The design of the phone is slide-out Qwerty keyboard with touch-screen functionalities along the same lines the screen is 3.1 inch with 320 x 480 resolution. Although the looks/design could fall in between a Blackberry and iPhone as some reviewers put it the Palm pre is quite comfortable.




With its Web OS platform it enables a very convenient way to surf online. For those of you who are not aware of the Web OS platform it was designed based on Linux for use with a touchscreen-based graphical user interface. It includes a suite of applications for personal information management and makes use of a number of web technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript, and CSS. The web browser is based on WebKit, and supports streaming video in RTSP, H.263, and H.264 formats which is good for multimedia enriched sites (e.g YouTube)

Connectivity can be made by GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR with stereo support also it has EVDO Rev functionalities basically a standard telecomunications wireless transmission of data through radio signals and its ideal use is for broadband internet access talking about fast internet access. Palm Pre is also said to include WCDMA soon.

A 3 megapixel camera with LED flash is featured on the Palm Pre and images captured from the camera could be stored onto an 8GB space.
