It is being promised that by New Year's Eve it will be available for public download the software. And best of all, it will be free as usual. To prove all this a member of the development team published a video of the actual unlocking.

The iPhone Dev-Team have been working on a software unlocking method for iPhone 3G since Day One and they are finally ready.It should work for 3G and non 3G iPhones

The method is codenamed yellowsn0w, requires command line operation, but the Dev-Team promises a nice looking graphical user interface for unfamiliar users. Jailbreaking the iPhone first to gain access to it in the first place is the first method.

The only iPhones to benefit from the unlock, are those with baseband ver. 2.11.07 or earlier.

The media processors also come with additional features including an ADC for touch screen control, SLC/ MLC NAND booting, built-in RTC, a LED PWM driver for the LCD backlight, an audio PWM 2 channel output, TV-Out, and DVB-T interface which reduces bill-of-material costs.
